Tourism Ministwer, Edmund Bartlett, has tasked newly appointed Director of Visitor Safety and Experience, Major Dave Walker, with reviewing the findings of a security audit into the tourism sector.
The portfolio Minister says Major Davis must use the findings to codify a manual of ethics that all players in Jamaica’s tourism industry must adhere to.
The security audit followed several complaints in the international media of female visitors being harassed at local resorts.
The Tourism Minister, who was speaking at a media briefing this afternoon, vowed the problem would be addressed in the coming months.
Minister Bartlett says the Visitor Safety and Experience Division forms part of the guarantee the government gives to those visiting the island.
