Hundreds of people witnessed the second docking of a cruise ship at the newly constructed Port Royal Pier, this morning.

The Mariella Discovery Two, with some 2-thousand visitors on board, docked at the Pier at about 8 this morning.

The same vessel had docked at Port Royal five weeks ago when the pier first opened.

This morning’s arrival of the Mariella Discovery two at Port Royal, was greeted with as much fanfare as its first visit.

The guests mostly from the United Kingdom, but some from Jamaica, were treated to local entertainment and cuisine.

Vice President of Cruise Shipping at the Port Authority of Jamaica, William Tatham, says all went smoothly this morning.

He says while some finishing touches are still needed, the pier is fully operational.

In the meantime, several businesses took advantage of the opportunity to showcase their products and services to the visitors.

Several Kingston-based transportation stakeholders also cashed in on the opportunity.

Sales Representatives at the St James-based Caribbean World Vacations, Kyron Jones, says his company used the service of several of those Kingston-based tour buses.

And this is how this tourist, Keith, described the experience.
