Assume you and everyone around you are COVID-19 positive.

That’s the advice of President of the Medical Association of Jamaica, MAJ, Dr Andrew Manning, to electors as they head out to vote Thursday.

The Electoral Office of Jamaica, EOJ, says it will allow COVID-19 patients to cast their ballots, noting they will be accommodated between 4 and 5 PM.

According to the EOJ, it has a strict set of protocols in place which assumes that everyone has the virus.

Dr Manning says everyone should behave as if they and everyone else is infected with COVID 19.

He’s urging persons to comply with the protocols in place to contain the spread of the virus.

The EOJ says COVID-19 positive persons should wear protective gowns and travel in private vehicles to polling stations.

Dr Manning says he’s concerned that those persons may also be stigmatised.
