Anchors from a mega-yacht docked off the coast of Anguilla have damaged the subsea fibre cable supplying the British Overseas Territory, causing an islandwide communications meltdown.
Several of the country’s nearly 16,000 residents remain without internet access at this hour.
The incident also affected fixed and cellular networks, cutting communication with the rest of the world.
In a joint early morning press release, the island’s Governor and Premier said repair efforts are underway to restore the country’s communications infrastructure.
