Minister with responsibility for education, Karl Samuda, says the high percentage of students who didn’t perform well in the ability aspect of the PEP exams indicates that the Ministry needs to improve this area from the early childhood level.
He noted that over half of the students received less than 30% in the ability category of the exam.
He also cited the disparity in the ability scores for high performing schools in comparison to low performing institutions.
The Minister says the answer is to improve the aptitude of all students from the early childhood level.
He was speaking at the official launch of the new school year at the Ardenne high school in St. Andrew today.
