The Ministry of Education is reporting that an additional 49 cases of Hand Foot and Mouth Disease, HFMD, have been identified since Tuesday.

This brings the total number of cases identified since September to 538, across 141 schools.

The Ministry says of the total number of affected children, 210 have returned to school.

They say three of the 19 schools which were closed as a result of the outbreak, have not yet reopened.

St. Catherine remains the worst affected region with 218 cases.

This is followed by Kingston and St. Andrew where 119 children have been affected.
