Minister without portfolio in the Ministry of Transport, Works and Housing, Dr. Morais Guy says more than forty-five-thousand land titles are to be delivered to property holders island wide.
The minister says the land titles are to be distributed under the administration’s National Titling Programme prepared by several government Ministries in collaboration with the Administrator General’s Department; and Housing Agency of Jamaica, HAJ.
Speaking during a two-day tour of 12 squatter settlements in Central Westmoreland, last week, Dr. Guy says that delivery of the titles is being prioritized because home owning will contribute to personal wealth and economic growth.
The meeting in Central Westmoreland was aimed at updating squatters on the negotiations to formalize their ownership of the properties they occupy.
The squatters are expected to receive land titles after the negotiations are completed with public and private sector agencies and entities that own the lands.
