Members of Parliament will be required to submit a list of beneficiaries as part of adjustments to the ministry’s fertiliser programme this year.
Agriculture Minister, Floyd Green, made the announcement a Wednesday’s post-cabinet media briefing.
Minister Green was referencing a 2025 Auditor General Department report into the Performance Incentive Programme, PIP, by the Rural And Agricultural Development Authority, RADA.
The report revealed that no mechanism was in place to verify whether a single farmer ever received more than 11,000 bags of fertiliser that were handed over to Members of Parliament for distribution.
Forty nine MPs received the fertilisers, valued at approximately $54 million.
Minister Green says the fertiliser programme is critical as the agriculture sector ramps up production for the Christmas period.
