The Nurses Association of Jamaica, NAJ is expressing apprehension amid a sharp rise in COVID 19 cases.
For the second consecutive day , the Health Ministry has recorded well over 1000 positive COVID 19 cases.
And yesterday the Country’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr Jacquiline Bisasor McKenzie says the country could record over 11,000 cases in the peak week of this fourth wave a few weeks from now.
NAJ President Patsy Edwards Henry says several of her members are among the thousands of recent positive cases.
She says several nurses are also in quarantine, making the work environment more hectic for the others.
Edwards-Henry says nurses are hoping the Omicron variant is not accompanied by severe symptoms that require hospitalization.
And she says there’s already indication more people are rushing to take vaccines.
