Information Minister, Senator Sandrea Falconer says the decision by the Government to increase the loan ceiling for prospective borrowers from the National Housing Trust, is not an election ploy.

The increase, which took effect on November 1, will allow borrowers to benefit from loans up to $5.5-million per contributor, up from $4.5-million.

The Government has also reduced interest rates by one per cent for NHT debtors.
