The head of the St. James police, Senior Superintendent Steve McGregor, is warning persons in the parish who abuse children that they will be shown no mercy under law.

Speaking last night at a meeting of the Jamaica Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, SSP McGregor says law enforcers in the parish have been instructed to show no leniency to persons engaging in this type of behaviour.

Approximately 30 children have been murdered since the start of the year.

SSP McGregor says in his 33 years as a policeman, he has not seen the type of attacks against children as he has been witnessing in recent times.

He says those who continue to endanger the lives of children will be punished.
