Minister of Education and Youth, Fayval Williams, is encouraging parents to send their children out to school at Oberlin High for regular classes starting today.

In making the appeal, the education minister says normality has returned to the school.

She says the ministry’s regional team will be at the school to meet with board representatives, the principal and student welfare team to chart the way forward.

In addition she says the team will discuss the events of October 26 that happened during a devotional exercise that led to the disruption of normal activities.

The minister says last Friday there was an atmosphere of calm at the institution and that all categories of staff were present.

Fewer than 100 students of the approximately 1 thousand 5 hundred student body turned up for classes on Thursday and Friday.

She says nevertheless, teaching and learning took place with those students who were present.

And that devotions took place without any eventualities.

The Education Minister is urging parents not to miss the opportunity for their children to continue with their education.
