The National Solid Waste Management Authority, NSWMA, is appealing to players in the construction industry not to put building materials in household garbage.
The executive director of the NSWMA is Audley Gordon.
Meanwhile, Mr Gordon is urging private garbage haulage contractors to fulfill their obligations.
The issue came to the fore on Saturday when a newspaper report highlighted a garbage build-up at a corporate area hospital.
Mr Gordon says the collection in that case was not the responsibility of the NSWMA.
