The New York Stock Exchange building on Wall Street was today adorned by the black, green and gold of Jamaica’s most popular emblem, the flag.

This, in honour of the Jamaica Stock Exchange which has been dubbed the best performing exchange in the world for 2018.

Managing Director of the Jamaica Stock Exchange, Marlene Street- Forrest, says this is a result of the hard work put in to boost the performance of Jamaican companies.

She says interest in the Jamaican market is growing rapidly among foreign investors.

On social media, Prime Minister Andrew Holness commended the JSE saying “This is a great achievement for our small island”.

Meanwhile, Finance Minister, Dr. Nigel Clarke says the performance of the JSE is an indicator that investors are optimistic about the economic potential of companies on the market.

He says the nature of the JSE allows for companies with prospects for growth to raise equity capital for expansion purposes.
