One of three individuals wanted in connection with major financial crimes has been arrested and charged.
He is Marlon Smith of Osbourne Road in Kingston.
Smith faces charges under the Proceeds of Crime Act and the Larceny Act.
It’s reported that between November 30 and December 2023, Smith collected $1.3 million and more than US $6,000 from an individual to import two motor vehicles.
However, the vehicles were not delivered, and the funds were not returned.
After nearly three years on the run, Smith turned himself into the police on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the police remain on the hunt for two other wanted fraudsters who absconded bail.
They are 31-year-old Brent Lynch of Greater Portmore in St. Catherine and 27-year-old Roshene Grindley of Gordon Town, St. Andrew.
Lynch previously pleaded guilty to a fraud-related offence in 2019 involving $18 million.
Grindley was convicted in her absence in July 2024, for attempting to defraud a financial institution.
They’re being urged to surrender to the police immediately.
