Opposition Leader Mark Golding says the death penalty notice being filed against murder accused Rushane Barnett, was no surprise.

Barnett is accused of the killing of 31-year-old Kimesha Wright, 15-year-old Kimanda Smith; 11-year-old Shara-Lee Smith, five-year-old Rafaella Smith and 23- month- old Kishawn Henry, who were found inside their home with their throats slashed.

He reportedly confessed to the murders in a caution statement to the police.

Mr. Golding, while acknowledging that many people are not comfortable with the death penalty, says it remains on the law books.
