The National Caucus of PNP Councillors is urging the government not to exclude them in the distribution plans of 10,000 water tanks to households in need across the island.

Last Thursday, Prime Minister Andrew Holness announced that households on PATH, and those recommended by MPs will qualify for the tanks.

The tanks will also be distributed to areas worst affected by the ongoing drought.

However, the National Caucus says it’s disappointed at, what they call, the growing trend of the Government to circumvent the Councillors’ role and function in several areas.

It says the tank distribution is the latest initiative of which it was excluded.

The Caucus added that local representatives are the first responders to the community and its needs.

It’s cautioning the government to include the Councillors in the process to ensure transparency and equity.
