PNP General Secretary, Julian Robinson, says the party will be moving very quickly to find a candidate to contest a pending by-election in South East St. Mary.
The vacancy in the Parliament arose yesterday with the sudden death of the Member of Parliament, the PNP’s Dr. Winston Green.
Mr. Robinson says while the party is concerned about providing immediate support to Dr. Green’s family and constituents, the party will be prepared when the Prime Minister makes an announcement.
There are now three vacant seats in the House of Representatives.
Former Members of Parliament Dr. Omar Davies and Portia Simpson Miller who represented the people of South and South West St. Andrew resigned from representational politics in late June.
Mr. Robinson says he’s satisfied with assurances from the government on the holding of by elections in those constituencies.
Dr. Green fainted at home yesterday morning and was rushed to the Andrews Memorial Hospital. He died on the way.
