The Narcotics Division of the Jamaica Constabulary Force, JCF, seized just over 7-hundred pounds of ganja at Kingston Wharves yesterday.
The marijuana was found in a container destined for the United States. It was intercepted at Port Bustamante.
Reports are that on Monday, the Narcotics police, members of the Jamaica Customs’ Contraband Enforcement Team, CET, and port workers conducted a predawn operation which resulted in the seizure of a container.
The container allegedly contained assorted juices with false compartments at the bottom of the container.
The container was detained and a thorough examination was conducted on Tuesday.
The checks led to the seizure of two hundred and thirty six packages each containing compressed ganja in the false compartments of the container.
The ganja has an estimated value of 2-point-8-million Jamaican dollars.
No arrests have been made in relation to the seizure.
