A policeman on murder and gun charges was granted bail in the sum of $400,000 when he appeared in the St. Catherine Parish Court on Tuesday.

Constable Kevin Dilworth was charged with murder and using a firearm to commit a felony in relation to a 2023 off-duty incident.

It’s alleged that on August 22 last year, Constable Dilworth discharged his weapon during a dispute with 47-year-old Conrad Mahabeer on Brunswick Crescent in Spanish Town.

Mahabeer was shot and killed.

Constable Dilworth was slapped with charges following a ruling by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions based on the submission by the Independent Commission of Investigations, INDECOM.

On Tuesday, he was granted bail with one to two sureties and reporting conditions.

Constable Dilworth is next scheduled to appear in court on February 7, 2025.
