“Promise made, promise kept.”

That was the sentiment echoed by residents of Chesterfield in St. Mary yesterday, as Prime Minister Andrew Holness officially opened a new bridge to the community.

The need for a bridge had featured prominently in the hotly- contested by-election for South East St. Mary in 2017.

The JLP’s Dr. Norman Dunn defeated the PNP’s Dr. Shane Alexis by nearly a thousand votes, following the sudden death of MP for the constituency, the PNP’s Dr. Winston Greene.

Reverend Dr Rudolph Henry is a Justice of the Peace in the South East St. Mary.

During the election campaign, Prime Minister Andrew Holness was photographed rolling up his pants to cross the river.

In his address yesterday, Mr Holness praised the efforts of the people as he recounted his first visit to the community.

Mr. Holness says he was impressed by the residents of Chesterfield.
