Dead is 75 year old Lloyd Booth. Reports are Booth was trying to cross the Mandela Highway in the vicinity of the Twickenham Housing Scheme when he was hit by the Toyota Axio motor car registered to the Police Commissioner.

The retired policeman was taken to the Spanish Town hospital where he died while being treated. The car was reportedly being driven by another member of the Constabulary.

The latest figures from the Road Safety Unit in the Transport Ministry show that 1-hundred and 6 people have been killed on the nation’s roads this year. That’s a 28 percent increase over the similar period last year.
