Reverse Income Tax Applications Reopened to Some Who Were Rejected

Tax Administration Jamaica, TAJ, says it’s giving domestic household workers another opportunity to apply for the government’s Reverse Income Tax Credit.

Some applicants were rejected as no eligible source of income was found.

Chief Corporate Communications Officer at TAJ, Meris Haughton, says the issue arose because there was no record of a Tax Registration Number, TRN, for some applicants.

She says affected domestic household workers can visit the nearest office of the National Insurance Scheme, NIS to update their records with their TRN.

The TAJ says this should be done before November 4.

It also notes that stamp card applicants without a TRN on record will be further advised when to reapply.

Taxpayers are being reminded that the process of application to disbursement spans approximately four weeks, from the time a confirmed application is submitted via the tax portal.

TAJ says applicants have until December 2 to submit their applications.
