Opposition Spokesman on Education, Reverend Ronald Thwaites, says the Roman Catholic Diocese of Jamaica stands ready to assist Bahamian students whose schools were destroyed by Hurricane Dorian.

The category 5 hurricane that made landfall on Abaco last week left several sectors in ruin.

Reverend Thwaites says the church has invited the affected Bahamian students to come to Jamaica to continue their studies in the interim.

The Opposition Spokesman on Education is also reiterating the need for ships to assist Caribbean countries in times of disaster.

He’s urging the Prime Minister to lobby the international community for relief vessels.
