Minister without Portfolio in the Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation, Matthew Samuda, says Jamaica is currently in the process of developing a long term low emission and climate resilience strategy.

Samuda is attending two environmental meetings in Stockholm, Sweden.

The meetings run from June 1 to 3 and include the High-level Segment of the Basel, Stockholm and Rotterdam Conventions and the Stockholm + 50 International Meeting.

The high-level segment of the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm Conventions is being held under the theme ‘Global Agreements for a Healthy Planet: Sound management of chemicals and waste’.

Minister Samuda says Jamaica’s economic growth has been impacted by severe weather conditions.

He says small developing states are facing challenges with accessing finances for climate resilience.
