Another man is dead following a fatal shooting incident in Montego Bay on Friday.
He is 27-year old Malik McDonald, a security guard of Hart Street. McDonald died on Saturday as a result of injuries sustained in the incident.
This follows the death of 29-year-old Exodus Dunkley of Flagstaff, St James. He was pronounced dead shortly after the incident.
Reports are that sometime after 5 pm, a Toyota Axio drove up on several people gathered on Hart Street. Several men, armed with high-powered rifles, alighted from the vehicle and opened fire on the group.
It’s understood that the incident is believed to have been an act of reprisal for the killing of a gangster’s relative last year.
In a statement on Saturday, National Security Minister, Dr Horace Chang, described the incident as an act of terror. He urged the police to put every effort into bringing the perpetrators to justice.
Meanwhile, acting-commanding officer for St. James, Senior Superintendent Carlos Russell, says his team is following strong leads in the shooting.
He said criminals will not be allowed to reverse the hard-won gains made the police in St. James.
SSP Russell said citizens have been playing a major role in helping the police to put a lid on crime in the parish.
