Foreign Affairs Minister, Senator Kamina Johnson Smith, says next week’s visit to Jamaica by the US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, will strengthen relations between the US and the Region.

Senator Johnson Smith says Jamaica is keenly anticipating Mr. Pompeo’s arrival.

In a statement yesterday, the US State Department said Mr Pompeo will travel to Kingston Jamaica next Tuesday, where he will meet with Prime Minister Andrew Holness.

They’ll conduct a multilateral roundtable discussion with Caribbean leaders.

Mr Pompeo is to also deliver remarks on US Caribbean relations.

But before that, Mr Pompeo will travel to Berlin, Germany on January 19, to attend the jointly hosted German-United Nations international conference on Libya.

According to the US State Department, Mr Pompeo will then travel to Bogota, Colombia on January 20.

He’s to speak at the third Western Hemisphere counter terrorism Ministerial function.

Mr Pompeo will then visit Costa Rica, then travel to Florida to deliver a speech on President Trump’s foreign policy before returning to Washington.
