The Planning Institute of Jamaica, PIOJ says that murders are up by more than two-percent per one-hundred thousand persons for the first half of 2016 .

PIOJ Deputy Director General, Richard Lumsden, says despite the uptick in murders, other serious and violent crimes remain on a downward trajectory.

Mr. Lumsden is also reporting a 22-percent reduction in all category one crimes.
