Rainfall in sections of the island has brought some improvement in the water levels to one of the country’s two major storage facilities that supply Kingston and St. Andrew.
As of Friday, September 4, the National Water Commission, NWC, says the storage level at Hermitage Dam stood at 36.6 percent.
That’s up from the 34.3 percent recorded on Sunday.
But water levels at the Mona Reservoir continue to decline.
Friday’s reading shows a capacity of 42.5 percent.
That’s down from the 43.1 percent previously recorded on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the MET Service says a trough is across Jamaica.
The trough is expected to linger, with showers and thunderstorms expected across central and western parishes on Saturday.
Isolated showers are also expected across eastern and western parishes on Sunday.
