Vice-Chairman of the National Road Safety Council, Dr Lucien Jones, says speeding is a likely cause of yesterday’s early morning crash, which claimed the lives of three University of Technology, UTech, students.

The crash happened on the Sir Florizel Glasspole Highway yesterday.

The three UTech students have been identified as Romario Nedrick, Lemaro Cole, and Devaughn Cunningham.

The University of Technology has sent condolences to the students’ family and friends.

In a statement, UTECH President, Professor Stephen Vasciannie says he regrets the passing of the students and that members of the school community will keep their family and colleagues in their prayers.

The men were heading to Kingston.

Deputy Superintendent of Police attached to the Constabulary’s Public Safety and Traffic Enforcement Branch, PSTEB, Winchester Watson, says the vehicle crashed into a wall in the vicinity of the Carib Cement Company in Rockfort, East Kingston.
