Two persons have been arrested in Bull Bay, St Thomas following a joint military operation by the Jamaica Constabulary Force,JCF, and the Jamaica Defense Force, JDF.

Charged with Illegal possession of firearm and ammunition are 19-year-old Leroy Farquharson otherwise called Sloonie and 28-year-old Jowine James, both of Eleven Miles Bull Bay.

The joint team conducted the operation in the Lane Gate community.

In a statement, the JCF says the security forces went into the community aiming to disrupt the activities of members of both the ‘Lane Gate Faction’ as well as the ‘Tank Well Gang’.

It’s understood that the two rival gangs have been engaged in violent confrontations recently and were planning to commit several violent crimes.

At the end of the operation, thirteen persons were taken into custody.

Five men were held on reasonable suspicion of committing a crime, including two persons for illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.

One Browning Beretta 9mm pistol along with five 9mm rounds were seized.
