The United Nations Children’s Emergency Fund, UNICEF, is describing the move to resume face-to-face classes as a risk-benefits undertaking.

This as stakeholders are raising concerns about the government’s insistence on pressing ahead with the programme despite a sharp rise in Covid-19 cases.

UNICEF Jamaica, Education Specialist, Dr Rebecca Tortello says schools are able to maintain the Covid-19 protocols to reduce the spread.

She says the learning loss experienced by many students is incalculable.

Dr Tortello is also encouraging parents to seek out credible information about the virus and make informed decisions.
