Jamaica’s Ambassador to the United States, Stephen Vasciannie, is to leave the post next week.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement this afternoon that Ambassador Vasciannie will leave the diplomatic service when his three-year term ends next Friday as he’s opted to return to academic life at the university level.
The Prime Minister has commended Ambassador Vasciannie for his service.
According to Mrs Simpson Miller, under his able and shrewd stewardship, several diplomatic initiatives have been undertaken to enhance and strengthen relations between Jamaica and the United States of America.
Mrs Simpson Miller also said Ambassador Vasciannie served with distinction as Chairman of the Organization of American States’ Permanent Council of Ambassadors and gained the respect and admiration of his hemispheric colleagues for his scholarly stewardship and measured approach.
