A young woman was killed in a motor vehicle accident yesterday along the Claremont main road in St. Elizabeth.

She is 25-year-old Taviree Davidson from the parish.

Reports from the police are that the crash occurred at approximately 11 in the morning. Miss Davidson reportedly lost control of her vehicle, which overturned and pinned down the lower half of her body. She was assisted from the vehicle and taken to the Black River hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Davidson is the 176th person to be killed on Jamaican roads this year.

The Road Safety Unit of the Ministry of Transport is reporting that there have been 153 fatal crashes since the start of the year.
