Nationwide News understands that the Jamaica College student who was taken into custody in connection with the seizure of an illegal firearm has been charged.
The 14 year old student, has been charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition and is booked to appear in the Juvenile Court today.
The boy, who’s being held at the Metcalfe Juvenile Remand Center in Kingston, was arrested during a police operation at the Half Way Tree Transport Centre last Friday.
Reports are that police personnel at the centre accosted a female student of a prominent Corporate Area All Girls School and attempted to search her schoolbag.
The JC student reportedly intervened and attempted to grab the bag.
He was restrained by the police who then searched the bag and found an Askel point-45 pistol inside.
The boy was arrested, while the girl was released.
