There’s been a 26-percent reduction in the backlog of cases in the Parish Courts, over the past year.

That’s according to Director of the Justice Reform Implementation Unit in the Justice Ministry, Althea McBean.

She says, as at March this year, there are 22,000 cases in the Parish Courts’ backlog.

She says the focus will now be placed on reducing the backlog of cases in the Supreme and the Appeal courts.

The Justice Ministry has been advocating for a reduction in the backlog of cases in the courts.
