The Earthquake Unit of the University of the West Indies is reporting a minor quake in the western end of the island.

According to a flash update on the Earthquake Unit’s website, the quake struck at about 8:53 this morning.

The Earthquake Unit says the epicentre was 2 kilometres northwest of White House, Westmoreland.

The earthquake measured 3-point-9 on the Richter scale and was at a depth of sixteen kilometres.

Callers to our news centre reported feeling the quake in sections of St. Elizabeth.
