The fleet of the Jamaica Urban Transit Company, JUTC is being expanded as the Ministry of Transport and Mining yesterday signed a contract for the procurement of 50 Buses.

The contractual agreement is between the Ministry and J R Wellington Import-Export Corporation Limited.

Minister of Transport and Mining Audley Shaw says the fleet will benefit from the addition of 5 electric and 45 diesel buses.

The buses he says are expected to arrive in the island in the next 6 months.

The Government will be spending approximately $2.7 billion to upgrade the JUTC’s current fleet.

JUTC’s Managing Director, Paul Abrahams says the expansion of the fleet is welcome.
