Prime Minister, Dr. Andrew Holness, says Jamaica’s current education system is in urgent need of far-reaching reform.
He made the admission while addressing members of the Jamaican diaspora in Florida on Friday.
The Prime Minister has previously made clear his intention to position Jamaica to best take advantage of the fourth industrial revolution as part of his growth agenda.
The Fourth Industrial Revolution consists of the global economic development surrounding the use of key technologies such as artificial intelligence and advanced robotics.
However, the Prime Minister noted the difficulties being faced in pursuing this goal due to the loss of skilled teachers.
Prime Minister Holness says while the government cannot stop teachers from migrating, he hopes that they will continue to offer their services to the Jamaican society.
