President of the Jamaica Teachers’ Association, LaSonja Harrison, is calling for greater involvement of teachers in education policy making.

Speaking at a meeting of the Rotary Club of Mandeville on Tuesday, she argued that the policies are too often shaped by technocrats who may not have the same classroom experience as teachers.

Harrison says greater teacher participation in decision-making is critical to improving the education system.
