The police have charged a 50-year old construction worker in connection with the seizure of roughly $50 million worth of cocaine at his home in Papine, St Andrew on Monday.
He has been identified as Adrian Beckford, otherwise known as Paul.
Beckford is charged with possession of cocaine, dealing in cocaine, taking steps preparatory to export cocaine, and conspiracy to export cocaine.
The seizure was done during an intelligence-led search of Beckford’s premises some time after 11 pm.
The operation was carried out by the Specialised Operations Branch and Special Weapons and Tactics team.
The lawmen say they discovered several cartons containing the illicit drug during the search.
The Firearms and Narcotics Investigation Division says the drugs weigh 152 pounds, and have an estimated street value of $51.7 million.
Beckford was arrested due to suspicion of breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act.
He was formally charged on Wednesday after an interview in the presence of his attorney.
He is scheduled to appear before the Kingston and St. Andrew Parish Court next week Thursday, November 12.
