Grenadians are at the polls Thursday to decide whether Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell is to get a second term in office.
Voting got underway as scheduled after the High Court rejected a legal challenge seeking to prevent the vote.
High Court Judge Justice Agnes Actie ruled Thursday morning that Mitchell acted constitutionally when he advised the governor general to dissolve Parliament, clearing the way for voters to elect a new government.
Mitchell, of the National Democratic Congress, faces Peter David, a former foreign affairs minister representing the Democratic People’s Movement.
All 15 seats in the House of Representatives are up for grabs.
More than 97,000 people are registered to vote in mainland Grenada, and the Southern Grenadines islands of Carriacou and Petite Martinique.
