Permanent Secretary in the Education Ministry, Dean Roy Bernard, has made a U-turn on whether he approved a one-million US dollar contract in 2017, for a company to provide building materials at the scandal-hit, Caribbean Maritime University, CMU.

Last week, Mr Bernard demanded the Auditor General’s Department provide documentation to support its report that he approved the direct contracting procurement method for the project.

Today at a meeting of Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee, Auditor General, Pamela Munroe Ellis, presented documentation for the request for approval of the contract.

Mr Bernard says having now seen that evidence, he’s clarifying what he’d signed and approved.
