The Bank of Jamaica, BOJ, has temporarily closed its main office building at Nethersole Place in downtown, Kingston due to the premises possibly being compromised by someone who may have been exposed to COVID-19.
However, the BOJ says the move is merely out of an abundance of caution as no BOJ staff member has tested positive for COVID-19 at this time.
It says in the interest of staff and the general public, they’ve moved to quickly close the building temporarily to carry out deep cleaning and sanitization work.
Consequently, the public is being advised that, the Bank will not offer teller and coin exchange services until further advised.
It’s therefore recommending that for coin exchange, the public utilizes the services of Grace Kennedy Payment Services.
For exchange of foreign currencies and other banking services, the public should rely on their commercial banks or other deposit-taking entities.
