A 78 year old Montego Bay-based businessman, Patrick Chung, was today freed of 11 counts of sexual assault .
Mr. Chung was freed in the St. James Circuit Court.
He was acquitted when the Court ruled that the prosecution failed to produce the evidence necessary to prove allegations.
The Jury was directed to return verdicts of not guilty on all the charges.
Chung had been on trial since October 7 this year.
He was represented by Queen’s Counsel, Jacqueline Samuels Brown.
In January of 2012, Mr. Chung was charged with multiple counts of sexual assault.
A few days before the trial began, the prosecution abandoned four of the sex related charges against him.
Some of the allegations of sexual assault against Mr. Chung involve incidents which were alleged to have taken place in the 1970’s and 1980’s.
In a statement this afternoon, Mr. Chung’s lawyers noted that their client strongly denied the allegations.
The attorneys also noted that no specific date was given by prosecutors when the offences were alleged to have been committed.
