Health and Wellness Minister, Dr. Christopher Tufton, says the Cabinet recently approved a Board to be appointed for the Ministry’s Health for Life and Wellness Foundation.

This is a part of their efforts to simplify and strengthen the assistance of the Diaspora to Jamaica.

Dr. Tufton says he intends to meet the new members of the Board before the end of the month.

The Minister noted that while there has been an improvement in reducing obstacles to reach the Diaspora, more can be done.

For years, there have been several complaints of a red tape process which makes it difficult for those overseas who wish to make their contributions to the island.

CEO and Founder of JAHJAH Foundation, Dr. Trevor Dixon, noted that his two-month mission at the Savanna-la-Mar Public General Hospital was a learning experience for his team of 70 medical professionals.

He says there are calls from the Diaspora for the Government to simplify the process in giving help and support.
