Nationwide News understands that classes at Cornwall College in Montego Bay, St. James have been suspended for the day after a member of staff at the institution was attacked.

Preliminary reports are that classes at the prominent all boys institution was suspended when a parent attacked the dean of discipline.

The attack reportedly took place this morning.

The decision was made to suspend classes at Cornwall College just before 10:00 this morning.

Calls placed to the Principal of Cornwall College, Michael Ellis, were not answered.

When contacted this morning, Cornwall College Board Chairman, Patrick Reid confirmed that classes at the institution have been suspended for the day due to what he described as an incident.

Mr. Reid said he was not privy to details of the incident and therefore would not make further comment.

The Cornwall College Board Chairman spoke to our news center just after 11:00 this morning.

He said that he was on his way to the school for a meeting which was called this morning.

Mr. Reid says the Principal of Cornwall College will issue a statement to the media after the meeting is concluded.
