Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Jacquiline Bisasor Mckenzie, says despite a gradual reduction in the country’s positivity rate, citizens should still be on high alert going into the summer months.

The CMO issued the reminder while acknowledging the 10-percent positivity rate recorded in the country yesterday.

Dr. Bisasor McKenzie says the rate is still too high for complacency.

The CMO says while some restrictions have been relaxed, citizens should still strictly observe the existing protocols.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness is expected to announce a further easing of the COVID-19 restrictions in the coming days.

Dr. Bisasor McKenzie says as summer approaches, increased vigilance is important.

She pointed to the experience last summer.
