A construction worker has died in an incident at the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, St. James.
The Airports Authority of Jamaica, AAJ, says it was told of the death on Friday morning by MBJ Airports Limited, the operator of the airport.
According to the AAJ, the incident happened at a construction site north of the Eastern Concourse, where China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation Jamaica Limited is carrying out expansion works.
Reports are that a parts of a crane the man was operating fell on him.
He died on the spot.
Work at the site has been suspended.
The AAJ says the relevant authorities have been notified and investigations into the circumstances of the incident are under way.
The Authority is extending condolences to the family, loved ones and colleagues of the worker.
The worker’s identity and the cause of death have not been released.
