The Press Association of Jamaica, PAJ, says the Caribbean media fraternity is mourning the passing of Jamaican-Trinidadian journalist and producer Brian St. Juste
The 68-year-old passed away in hospital on Friday morning after ailing for some time.
He was the son of the late Trinidadian broadcasting pioneer Franklyn St. Juste and the brother of the late Jamaican radio broadcaster, Francois St Juste.
The PAJ says Brian’s career spanned more than three decades in film, television, and journalism.
He last served as Managing Director of Timecode Productions Limited, where he oversaw broadcast coverage of major sporting and cultural events.
These include working as senior TV producer for the IAAF 2002 World Junior Championships, Technical Manager for the ICC 2007 Cricket World Cup Opening Ceremony and the CONCACAF Men’s Under 20 Championships in Jamaica.
He also produced national staples such as the ISSA Boys & Girls Championships, the Miss Jamaica World Pageant, and the Red Stripe Monday Night Football broadcasts.
The PAJ says St. Juste played a pivotal role in Jamaica’s democratic process, producing the televised debates for the Jamaica Debates Commission since 2007.
Internationally, he served as a consultant to the National Democratic Institute and the U.S. Commission on Presidential Debates, helping countries across the Caribbean to stage nationally televised debates.
The PAJ says his contributions were recognised with industry honours, including the Doctor Bird Award for Creative Achievement, underscoring his impact on Jamaica’s film and television sector.
St. Juste also served as President of the Jamaica Film Producers Association, advocating for stronger film policy and industry development.
The PAJ says Jamaica joins the wider media fraternity in extending profound and heartfelt condolences to his widow and loved ones, honouring his legacy and standing with them during this time of grief and loss.
